The issues that matter most to me are the ISO performance, image stabilization and the ability to remove dust. The best information I could gather from various professional reviews before my purchase decision is as follows: ISO performance: XTi and D80 are pretty much on par, but with the D80, with a slight advantage in the possibility to hold canon digital slr reviews up in 3200 ( downscaled that setting though). Sony starts to lag at ISO 800 with noise issues and at ISO 1600 with other image quality issues. Image Stabilization: Sony has the advantage of cost-effectivenes of the use of in-camera IS system. With Canon and Nikon, you have to pay extra for lenses with IS. Dust Removal: Canon provides hardware and software solutions. Sony provides hardware only. Nikon provides neither. I decided to take a chance on the XTi and bought a camera with a lens kit for about 10 days ago. Since I was shooting everywhere on the binding of various camera settings, test its limits.
